Err... I know its a bit late... and I'm still need more work with my mechas, but since you asked...

Ehem...
Practice to draw human beings, it will help you if you want to draw humanoid mecha.

Then, you could try making an android. It can help with a little bit mechanical parts. Like robotic arm or something like that...

After that, you could draw your own mech. Start with something simple. Use other mech as referrence. If you want...

Well, that all I can give you. I hope you try your best... ^^
